Welcome to the U18 England River and Bank Fly Fishing Team

Nurturing the Next Generation of Anglers

Set against the backdrop of Britain’s tranquil rivers and vibrant natural landscapes, the U18 Riverbank Team proudly represents the future of English fly fishing. As the official Under-18 England River and Bank Fly Fishing Team, we are committed to nurturing young talent and instilling in them a lifelong love for angling, camaraderie and the great outdoors.

Our Story

At U18 Riverbank Team, we’re passionate about introducing young enthusiasts to the art of angling. Our mission is to cultivate skills, sportsmanship and a deep respect for nature among unde 18 anglers across the UK.

Our journey began with a simple vision—to guide and empower young people through the traditional art of fly fishing. Today, we offer more than technical instruction; we provide an enriching environment where skills flourish, friendships grow and respect for nature becomes second nature.

We believe that angling develops not just talent but character. Patience, perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship are all part of the journey. Through structured coaching and a welcoming community, we help under-18 anglers across the UK to thrive both on and off the water. Read more…

Under 18? Love Fishing?

Embark on your angling journey with the U18 Riverbank Team

Representing England in fly fishing requires dedication, experience, and a true passion for the sport.

Our team is not open to complete beginners; we are looking for young anglers who already possess a strong foundation in fly fishing and can demonstrate why they deserve a place on the national squad.

We welcome applications from talented young anglers aged 14 to 18 (please note: competition eligibility requires members to be 14 to 18 years old). This range allows us to train promising individuals over time, ensuring they are fully prepared when they reach competition age.

Our aim is to build and train a highly qualified, committed team capable of competing at the highest level. We will also consider a small number of younger anglers with strong potential for future development.

If you are passionate about fly fishing, dedicated to training, and ready to represent your country with pride, we encourage you to apply.

Selection Process:

We welcome young anglers aged under 18 from all backgrounds — no experience necessary, just curiosity, enthusiasm, and a love for the outdoors.

Whether your child is casting their first line or already chasing record-breaking catches, the U18 Riverbank Team is the perfect place to grow their skills, build confidence, and experience the thrill of competitive and recreational angling in a safe, supportive environment.

Our members become part of a friendly and inclusive community, forming real friendships while doing what they love. They enjoy access to exciting events — from local meets to national competitions like the Angling Trust Junior Nationals and the National Celebration of Young People and Fishing. These experiences are about more than just winning — they’re about learning, growing, and having fun together.

Our members are taught to fish responsibly, care for wildlife, and protect the waters we enjoy, following the principles of sustainable angling supported by the Angling Trust and Canal & River Trust.
